Grand Tour - The Phlegrean Fields
Goethe defined the Phlegrean Fields as „the most marvellous region of the world“. Here, where the oldest colony of the „Magna Grecia“ was founded, the roman emporers spent their holidays; poets, writes and travellers alike sang of the grandeur of this region. Situated between past and present in the land of fire to the north west of Naples the Phlegrean fields form one of the most vulcanically active places in the world. Stretched out towards the future this zone held back by the present through environmental exploitation.
