Isabel Miranda Wallace
This is the story of Isabel Miranda Wallace, a former teacher from Mexico City. Her life changed dramatically on the eleventh of July 2005. This is the date when her son, Hugo Wallace was kidnapped and killed. This kidnapping is sadly only one of many that almost always end with the hostages being killed. These kidnapping are like a plague that has come over Mexico; from the beginning of the year there have already been more than 300 kidnappings, but only a small percentage of these are ever reported to the police and in most of the cases the criminals stay unpunished. The population does not trust the police and in the case of Isabel Miranda’ s son, it seems that she has done the job of the police: she privately investigated into how her son was kidnapped, she promised to pay off anyone who would find her son’s kidnappers, and finally she suceeded in finding her son’s murderers and her investigations led to the arrest a large part of the gang of Caesar Freyre that was responsible for the homicide of her son. In 2005 she founded the association “Alto al secuestro” (Stop kidnappings) with which she tries to fight this sad phenomenom of kidnappings that exists in Mexico. Currently the association is working very hard to find two criminal fugitives and above all to find the body of Isabel Miranda’s son. From the moment Isabel Miranda has started her investigations, there have already been two attempts to murder her so that she has to live with an armed escort, which the State has provided to her.
